Manchester United defender Luke Shaw made a rare start against Sunderland on Sunday, and quickly impressed Red Devils supporters.

Despite coming under criticism from manager Jose Mourinho in recent weeks – who claimed he wasn’t at the same level as some of the other players able to play at full-back – the 21-year-old came on as a substitute in the draw against Everton in midweek, and then was named in the starting line-up at the Stadium of Light.

The England international has made an impact too, helping to win a penalty against the Toffees when his goal-bound effort was handled by Ashley Williams, while he also assisted Henrikh Mkhitaryan for his early second half goal against the Mackems.

United fans were quick to voice their opinions on Shaw’s performance via social media, with some believing that he is showing signs that he is getting back to his best following the devastating leg break he suffered in 2015.
