Inter Milan announced on Friday that winger and reported Manchester United Ivan Perisic had signed a new contract to extend his stay at the San Siro until 2022.
The Red Devils were heavily linked with a move for the Croatia international throughout the summer as manager Jose Mourinho looked to bring in a wide player, but The Independent says that the Serie A giants changed their asking price during negotiations as they tried to involve Anthony Martial in the deal.
Now the 28-year-old has committed his future to Inter and it may well mean that Mourinho is forced to look elsewhere in January or next summer in his bid to bring in a wide man, unless he is willing to bid big for Perisic.
Man United supporters were quick to have their say on the news via social media, and the majority seemed to be pleased that their chances of signing the Croatian had been hit, with some even saying they wanted him to “stay away” from the club.
Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
Didn't want to be a ManUtd player badly enough.
Same question needs to be asked of every signing IMO#MUFC

Perisic penning a new deal means nothing.
It may even happen he requested for a release clause to be inserted.

People slaggin Perisic off for signing a new contract. If we really wanted him we would have got him. But he wasn't a priority signing #MUFC
