According to reports in the Daily Mail, Manchester United are well placed to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Renato Sanches this summer, but a loan move is more likely than a permanent deal for the €48m-rated (approximately £43m) star.

The Bundesliga giants signed the 19-year-old Portugal international from Benfica last summer but he endured a tough first campaign in Germany, playing just 615 minutes of league football and 903 minutes in total, failing to register a single goal or assist.

The Daily Mail says that Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho would have liked to have signed Sanches last summer had he been appointed earlier, and he could return for his national compatriot before the start of the new season.

United supporters were quick to have their say on the rumour via social media, and while many would be delighted to bring Sanches to the club, others have their reservations with some believing that he wouldn’t be able to handle the pressure at Old Trafford, and that Timothy Fosu-Mensah could be used in the holding midfield role instead.
