According to Press Association Sport reporter Simon Peach, via the Daily Mail, Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian has insisted that he is happy and wants to stay at the club despite speculation linking with a return to Italy with Juventus.

The right-back moved to Old Trafford in a deal worth £12.7m, according to the Daily Mail, two years ago, but he struggled in his first season before initially failing to get into the side under the leadership of Jose Mourinho last term.

However, he was given more first team opportunities towards the end of the campaign at left-back following a number of injuries and he impressed, starting the Europa League final success against Ajax.

Speaking during the club’s American tour, Darmian said: “I am happy here.

“I am a Manchester United player - that's it.”

United supporters were quick to have their say on the comments via social media, and while the majority were delighted with some saying they wouldn’t “sell him for any price”, some others said that he can go.
