Manchester United beat Valerenga 3-0 in their latest pre-season friendly on Sunday and following the victory, Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho denied rumours that midfielder Marouane Fellaini would be leaving the club this summer.

The Belgium international scored his side’s opening goal with a header just before the interval to give them a 1-0 lead at the break, with the victory sealed by second-half goals from Romelu Lukaku and Scott McTominay.

The Guardian had reported earlier on Sunday that Galatasaray officials were due in Manchester for talks over a deal for the Belgium international with the club on the verge of signing Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic in a £40m deal, but Mourinho has put an end to those rumours.

The Portuguese boss told Sky Sports: "It's easier for Galatasaray to get me than Marouane.

"If they need a manager, they have a chance, but Marouane? Forget it. He is too important to me."

Man United supporters were quick to have their say on their boss’ comments via social media, and the majority were frustrated that they would have to watch Fellaini for another season as he has largely proved to be an unpopular figure during his four seasons at Old Trafford.
