It was never going to be easy for Paul Pogba at Manchester United this season. As the most expensive footballer to walk the planet, the midfielder’s performances have been under the microscope since he re-joined the club from Juventus in the summer of 2016.
The France international has scored seven times for the Red Devils during the 2016-17 campaign, whilst there have been signs that the 24-year-old is ready to develop into the finest midfielder in world football, which he promised at Juventus last season.
A hamstring problem has seen Pogba miss some football in recent weeks, but he has recently returned to the fold, and played all 90 minutes of Man United’s 1-1 draw away to Anderlecht in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final on Thursday night.
There were some impressive moments for the midfielder in Brussels, but his inability to fully exert himself, and indeed some missed opportunities, saw Anderlecht come from behind to leave the last-eight tie alive ahead of the second leg at Old Trafford next week.
Pogba has divided opinion with the Man United supporters all season, and that was no different on Thursday night after having a mixed game against the Belgian giants.
Interestingly, some rated Pogba’s performance as one of his best in a Man United shirt, but others were left underwhelmed as the Red Devils drew yet another important fixture.

Pogba had a good game but he needs to put those chances away to get to the next level. He's gonna get slated for that and rightly so. #MUFC

United fans have been deprived of midfielders for so long, they forgot what they look like. Only explanation for Pogba hate tonight. #MUFC

I'm a massive Pogba fan but he's got to start producing, he's either hitting the woodwork or barely working the keeper when 1v1 #mufc

Pogba was brilliant today kept the ball, changed play, cleared the ball, passed the ball. Reminded me of a young Xabi Alonso. #MUFC

Pogba's long-range efforts are seemingly superior to his 1-on-1 game. He's missed some big (relatively easy) chances in front of goal #MUFC

It's now safe to say that Pogba is the biggest fraud in football history. #Mufc
