It seems silly season has started even earlier than usual this year, perhaps a consequence of the ridiculous amounts of money circling around the Premier League these days.
Indeed, The Sun and the printed edition of The Sunday Times both claimed last weekend that Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is lining up a shock swoop for Manchester City’s iconic front-man Sergio Aguero, whose long-term future at the club has seemingly been put into doubt by the January arrival of Gabriel Jesus.
Of course, the idea of City selling one of the most potent goalscorers in world football to not only local but likely title rivals ahead of next season verges upon ridiculous. Rather surprisingly, The Daily Mail have been the voice of reason – pouring cold water on the rumour by claiming Aguero isn’t interested in crossing the Manchester divide.
