Plenty of Manchester United supporters are backing manager Jose Mourinho's treatment of Anthony Martial.

The French forward has been fighting for his place in the first team over the past few months.

Last season, the 21-year-old, who moved to Old Trafford from Monaco for a reported £36m figure in the summer of 2015, scored 11 Premier League goals in 31 appearances.

Under Jose Mourinho in the current campaign, Martial has started just nine top-flight matches and has come off the bench in four.

Questions have been raised over his long-term future at United after he was left out of Mourinho's last two squads.

The forward was overlooked for last weekend's 1-1 draw with Stoke City in the league and was also not named in the squad for Thursday night's EFL Cup semi-final second leg against Hull.

Some supporters have been left bemused by Mourinho's decision to snub Martial, while others are confident that the manager should be trusted.

Let's not forget that Henrikh Mkhitaryan was left out in the cold for the first half of the campaign and is now a huge player for the team.
