As reported by the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United youngster Angel Gomes has been training with the first team squad this week and could make his debut for the Red Devils against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
If the 16 year old does feature he would become the club’s youngest ever player in the Premier League era.
Jose Mourinho is set to leave out his big names for the essentially meaningless clash with Palace at Old Trafford, prioritising Wednesday’s UEFA Europa League final against Ajax, their last chance to win serious silverware this season and qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
After a long, disappointing Premier League season, the Red Devils will want to finish the season on a high but won’t sacrifice the chance to have their players fully fit for the big final. That opens the door for attacking midfielder Gomes to shine.
Supporters appear eager for the young star to start, just days after he picked up the club’s Jimmy Murphy Youth Player of the Year Award.
They took to Twitter to share their thoughts on a potential debut…
