Manchester United have received an injury boost following news that Luke Shaw and Ashley Young are closing in on first-team returns.

Manager Jose Mourinho has told MUTV that the pair will play in the club's Under-23s squad on Monday.

This means that Saturday's Premier League game against Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium has come too soon for the duo, who have not featured since the closing stages of last season.

Shaw suffered ligament damage while playing against Swansea in United's league match on April 30.

Young's injury layoff began less than a week later when he picked up a groin problem against Celta Vigo in the Europa League semi-final.

Neither were fit enough to take part in the Red Devils' pre-season tour of the United States, but they did travel with the squad.

The news has been warmly welcomed by fans that are keen to welcome Shaw back into the fold, but the reaction was completely different for Young.
