Manchester United’s winning start to the Premier League season came to an end when they were held to a 2-2 draw by Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday, and Red Devils fans were not impressed with the performance of one of their defenders.

The Red Devils had won their previous three fixtures without conceding a goal but rather than stick with the same defence that had kept a clean sheet against Leicester City before the international break, Jose Mourinho brought Matteo Darmian into the side at left-back in place of Daley Blind.

Despite playing there on a number of occasions the Italian is more comfortable on the opposite flank, and he probably should have done better as Mourinho's men conceded their first league goal of the season when Mame Biram Diouf fizzed in a cross that Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting swept home just before the interval.

The Stoke forward later gave his team a share of the spoils with another goal after Marcus Rashford and Romelu Lukaku had given the visitors the lead.

Man United supporters were quick to have their say on Darmian’s performance via social media, with some describing his showing as "atrocious" and others wanting the club to sell him.

Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
