Back in the day if a footballer wanted to contact a former player then they would probably give them a call or go through the club, but now, social media is used as a communication tool.
Manchester United right-back Antonio Valencia has taken to Twitter to express gratitude towards club legend Gary Neville.
The retired player, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, praised the Ecuadorian following his performance against Benfica in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
Valencia began his career as a winger, but after fading slightly at Old Trafford, manager Jose Mourinho transformed the 32-year-old into a right-back, a position in which the player continues to thrive in.
Antonio Valencia has become a wonderful Right Back…

The former Wigan Athletic player, who has been at United for the past eight years, seemed to be touched by Neville’s compliment and decided to thank the former full-back via Twitter.
Thank for your kind words! You are a football legend and set a very high standard at that position @GNev2
