Aston Villa have announced that Ross McCormack has completed a move to Australian club Melbourne City. The 31-year-old has moved on a temporary deal and is expected to return to the Midlands after the New Year.It is only a short spell for the striker as Melbourne are looking for someone to fill in while Bruno Fornaroli recovers from injury.

McCormack's Villa career has not gone as planned, as he made just 20 Championship appearances last season, scoring three goals and producing one assist.

The forward also had a loan spell at Nottingham Forest, but he had just seven outings and scored once.

After falling out of favour under Steve Bruce at Villa Park, the Scotland international also had a spell on the sidelines due to cysts that needed to be removed from his mouth.

McCormack will head to Australia with the hope of earning some much-needed game time after making just two Carabao Cup appearances this season.

After the announcement was made, Villa fans took to Twitter.
