Owning a shirt worn by Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi must be a coup for most footballers, but it must also be quite the compliment if the the five-time Ballon d’Or winner requests one of theirs.
On Tuesday, the Argentina international posted to Instagram a photo of himself and son Thiago sat with an impressive collection of football shirts.
While scanning over the colourful group of jerseys, as expected, high-profile names including Luis Suarez, Philipp Lahm and Raul could be spotted within the wall of shirts, but one stood out for eagle-eyed West Ham fans.
Manuel Lanzini, who joined the Hammers last year, has been honoured with a spot in the collection.
The 24-year-old Argentine, who is likely to know Messi from the international setup, has had his number 28 jersey displayed by one of the world’s greatest footballers.
Lanzini is a fan favourite among the West Ham following at the moment after he scored the one and only goal in last week’s victory over London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Plenty of West Ham supporters were quick to spot Lanzini’s name among the glittering display, and some had some amusing things to say.
