Mignolet takes to Twitter after being rested, Liverpool fans react

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp made a bold call on Sunday when he decided to leave out goalkeeper Simon Mignolet and replace him with Loris Karius for the visit of Arsenal.

Mignolet has been the Reds’ number one so far this season, but Klopp claimed that he wanted to rest the Belgian for the weekend.

The timing was odd considering that Liverpool had played just four games in all competitions this season and the likelihood of the shot-stopper starting for Belgium during the international break is slim.

Mignolet watched from the stands as the Reds earned a thumping 4-0 victory, with Karius having very little to do.

Arsenal failed to muster a single shot on target, but when the goalkeeper was called into action, there were some nervy moments.

Rather than speak out about being left out of the squad, Mignolet congratulated his teammates for their performance.

Liverpool fans appreciated this gesture, and tweeted their support to the 29-year-old, who they still regard as number-one choice.
