Newcastle fans keen for injury update on £3.5m-rated star

Newcastle United have been without the services of Paul Dummett since the left-back limped out of the clash with Tottenham Hotspur on the opening weekend of the Premier League season.

It had been thought that the defender would miss just two weeks of football, but a hamstring problem is still keeping the popular full-back on the sidelines heading for the month of October.

Dummett turned 26 on Tuesday, and as expected, there was a happy birthday message waiting for the Welshman on Newcastle’s official Twitter account.

Dummett, who is valued at £3.5m by transfermarkt.co.uk, thanked the Magpies for their well-wishes, and there were also a number of Newcastle supporters that took to Twitter to wish the defender a happy birthday.

There is no question that Dummett is a popular figure with the Newcastle fans, and many were keen to learn when the defender would be fit after missing a lot of football in recent weeks.

After coming through the youth system at Newcastle, Dummett has made more than 120 appearances for the Magpies, and played all but one of their Championship matches during the 2016-17 campaign.
