Newcastle United suffered their second successive 1-0 Premier League defeat on Saturday afternoon after going down at home to Bournemouth.
The Magpies sit 11th in the Premier League after a decent start to the 2017-18 campaign, but there is no getting away from the fact that Saturday’s result was very disappointing.
Bournemouth actually had six attempts on target during an impressive performance, and secured all the points late on courtesy of centre-back Steve Cook.
A number of Newcastle players were criticised on social media following the defeat, but one player that seemed to escape the fury was goalkeeper Rob Elliot.
Indeed, the 31-year-old, who only made three Championship appearances last season, made some smart saves throughout the match.
There are a number of Newcastle players that need to improve in the eyes of the supporters, but Elliot, who thanked those in attendance for their support on Saturday afternoon, remains an extremely popular figure with the club’s fanbase.
