Newcastle United announced on their official website on Wednesday that goalkeeper Tim Krul's loan move to Premier League rivals Brighton and Hove Albion had turned into a permanent deal, but Magpies fans were not too pleased with the news.

The Dutchman made the season-long loan move to the Seagulls last month, and despite only making his debut for the south coast outfit in their 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth in the EFL Cup at the Vitality Stadium on Tuesday night, he has now penned a one-year contract.

It brings an end to the 29-year-old's 12-year association with the Tyneside outfit, and he could now feature for Brighton when they play host to Rafa Benitez’s in-form side in the top flight at the Amex Stadium on Sunday.

Newcastle supporters were quick to have their say on the news via social media, and while some were "very disappointed and quite angry", others believe it is a "mistake letting him go" seeing as he is now able to feature against them this weekend.
