Brighton and Hove Albion leapfrogged Newcastle United and moved back to the top of the Championship table as they beat Queens Park Rangers 2-1 at Loftus Road on Friday night.

Second-half goals from Glenn Murray and Sebastien Pocognoli made it five wins from their last six for Chris Hughton’s men, and they are closing in on their first-ever season in the Premier League as they moved 10 points clear of third-placed Huddersfield Town.

It was a victory that meant that they also moved two points above the Magpies in what looks to be two-horse race for the title that will go down to the wire.

However, Rafa Benitez’s side know that they will retake their place at the summit if they win at play-off hopefuls Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday evening.

Newcastle fans were quick to take to social media to have their say on Brighton picking up three points yet again, and while some were full of praise for their rivals, others were keen to concentrate on their own team.

Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction to the result…
