Former Newcastle United striker Daryl Murphy moved to joint-top of the Championship goalscoring charts when he netted for Nottingham Forest in their 3-1 defeat against Fulham at the City Ground on Tuesday night, and Magpies fans are starting to think that they shouldn’t have sold him.
Rafa Benitez decided to move the 34-year-old – who has now netted six times in 10 Championship appearances for Forest – on during the summer transfer window just a year after he had brought him to St James’ Park, with the Spaniard obviously feeling that the Republic of Ireland international wouldn’t make an impact in the Premier League.
The Tyneside outfit have since failed to score in three of their six top flight fixtures to date this term, with new boy Joselu in particular struggling to find the net in recent weeks.
Newcastle supporters were quick to have their say on Murphy’s latest goal via social media, and many fans believe the club “should have kept him”.
