It was announced on Tuesday that Andre Marriner will be the referee when Newcastle United travel to the south coast to face Brighton and Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium on Sunday, and Magpies fans are not happy.

Rafa Benitez's men will be looking to record their fourth successive Premier League win – having lost their opening two fixtures – when they come up against the Seagulls, while they will also come up against former boss Chris Hughton.

Marriner was also the referee for their clash against Tottenham Hotspur last month, and he sent Jonjo Shelvey off after the midfielder stood on Spurs star Dele Alli.

Despite the 46-year-old getting that decision right, Newcastle supporters fear the worst now he will be the match official this weekend.

While some believe it is an "utter joke" that he will be refereeing them again in such a short space of time, others have simply described him as a "terrible ref".
