Newcastle United revealed on Wednesday morning that they had completed the signing of Spanish forward Joselu on a three-year contract from fellow Premier League side Stoke City.

Joselu joined Stoke from Hannover in the summer of 2015, and scored four times in 27 appearances for the Potters before spending last season on loan at Deportivo La Coruna.

The 27-year-old, who will wear the number 21 shirt for his new team, arrived on Tyneside on Monday to complete a medical, and has now joined Rafael Benitez's side ahead of this weekend's Premier League clash with fellow newly-promoted outfit Huddersfield Town.

Newcastle looked short in the final third during last weekend's 2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, and Benitez has now boosted his options ahead of the trip to Huddersfield.

It would be fair to say that Joselu is not the star-studded signing that many Newcastle supporters were hoping for this stage of the transfer window, but the club's fanbase are largely positive about the striker's chances of making an impact.
