According to reports in The Mirror, Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez is said to be one of West Ham United’s top targets if they decide to sack Slaven Bilic this summer.

The Croatian could be set to leave the London Stadium at the end of the season unless he can turn results around in the Premier League run-in – the Irons have lost their last three matches and are without a win in five – with the club’s hierarchy ready to chase Benitez.

The east London outfit nearly brought the Spaniard in before he chose to join Real Madrid instead, and he has enjoyed a fine campaign at the helm at St James’ Park.

The Magpies are currently top of the Championship standings and look to be on course for an instant return to the top flight after a disappointing relegation last term.

Newcastle fans were quick to have their say on the rumour via social media, and the majority of them have dismissed the link, believing the 56-year-old won’t move to the capital.
