According to RMC Sport in France, via Sky Sports, Newcastle United winger Florian Thauvin has claimed that he will make his loan move to Marseille permanent this summer.

It is news that won’t come as much of a shock to Magpies supporters, with the Frenchman struggling to make an impact at St James’ Park after joining them for around £15m on a five-year deal from Marseille in 2015.

The 24-year-old made just 16 appearances in all competitions the following season – scoring one goal – before he made the move back to France during the 2016 January transfer window.

Now, Rafa Benitez’s men look set to recoup £9.5m for the forward, who was given his first call-up to the France senior squad this week following some impressive performances this term, and Toon supporters were quick to have their say on the exit of the flop.

While the majority of fans on Twitter were pleased with the outcome, others wondered what might have been…

But not all Newcastle fans were so pleased about Thauvin's exit...
