Newcastle United not impressed with Dwight Gayle after Huddersfield defeat

After defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in their opening fixture, Newcastle United were looking for a reaction away to Huddersfield Town on Sunday but were left disappointed, suffering a 1-0 loss.

An Aaron Mooy stunner gave Huddersfield the win as the two promoted sides went head-to-head for the first time this season.

In many ways it was a good test of where Newcastle United are at as a club right now and it’s clear to see that they need to add more quality if they are going to be safe from relegation this season.

Fans were left desperately disappointed with the performance and the quality on offer. Dwight Gayle drew most of the criticism, his ineffective display doing little to threaten Huddersfield at any point before he was subbed off.

Whether that was down to using Rafa Benitez using him incorrectly or the striker just not having the ability to be a force in the top-flight is up for debate but every Magpies fans was in agreement it wasn’t good enough.
