Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen has given a big thumbs up to the club’s signing of Mohamed Salah. The Reds confirmed on Thursday evening that the Egyptian international had finalised his transfer from Roma.

BBC Sport claim that the Merseyside outfit have splashed £34m on the man who struggled to make an impact at Chelsea during a two-year spell.

The 25-year-old was shipped out on loan to Fiorentina and Roma by the Blues, but it is safe to say that he is a much more influential player since leaving West London.

Last season in Italy, Salah scored 17 goals in all competitions and provided 12 assists, indicating that he will bring an extra attacking boost to Jurgen Klopp’s lineups.

The ex-Basel star also featured twice in the Champions League, and he is likely to get more experience in the competition if the Reds manage to get through their qualifier.

Despite Salah failing to succeed at Chelsea, there is a lot of promise surrounding him, and Owen is one ex-player who is thrilled with his arrival at Anfield.
