Stan Collymore has not held back in his assessment of West Ham United’s Premier League opener against Manchester United.Slaven Bilic’s side, who finished 11th in the table last season, were heavily beaten 4-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.United’s debutant Romelu Lukaku scored twice, while Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba also got on the scoresheet for the home side.West Ham gave debuts to their summer signings Pablo Zabaleta, Joe Hart, Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez, but they failed to make a significant impact. The East London outfit were criticised last season for some of their performances, and they were targeted once again, this time by former Liverpool and Aston Villa striker Collymore.Even though the Hammers faced a top team in United, Collymore does not believe that is an excuse for a poor performance.

West Ham’s next two league fixtures will be against Southampton and Newcastle United, both of whom dropped points on the opening weekend.
