If getting knocked out of the Champions League 10-2 on aggregate was not bad enough for Arsenal, it appears as though their star player Alexis Sanchez found something rather amusing while sat on the bench during the dismal display against Bayern Munich.

Arsene Wenger's men had an almost impossible task when they headed into the last-16 second leg at the Emirates this evening.

They were already 5-1 down in the tie following their trip to the Allianz Arena, but not many would have predicted the same scoreline for the return fixture.

It started off well enough for the Gunners when Theo Walcott put them ahead in the first half, but after the half-time break, goals from Robert Lewandowski, Arjen Robben, Douglas Costa and two from Arturo Vidal cemented Arsenal's fate.

Not only that, the North London outfit were limited to just 10 men for most of the second half after Laurent Koscielny was shown a red card for bringing down Lewandowski in the penalty area.

Sanchez, who has been heavily linked with a move away from the club this summer, started the encounter but was replaced by Mesut Ozil in the 72nd minute.

While plenty of Arsenal fans were exasperated in the stadium, Sanchez did not appear particularly heartbroken as TV cameras picked up footage of the Chilean laughing not long after his side conceded a fifth goal.

Of course, Sanchez could have been chuckling at something completely unrelated to the game, but it is not ideal timing given that his side were on the brink of a Champions League exit.
