According to reports in The Times, Southampton owner Katharina Liebherr is said to be close to accepting a £190m bid from Chinese company Lander Sports Development for the club.

Liebherr believes that the club needs fresh investment in order to carry on the success that the south coast outfit has enjoyed since its return to the Premier League in 2012, and she turned down a bid of £180m from the same organisation in January.

However, the new offer is understood to be closer to her valuation of the club and a deal could now be completed, although it is believed that Lander wouldn’t take full control straight away as Liebherr makes sure she is leaving Southampton Football Club in safe hands.

Saints supporters were quick to have their say on the reports via social media, with many concerned at what could happen next at the club.
