Southampton are yet to really get going in the market this summer, having made just the one addition so far, although there could well be a familiar feel about their next move.

Newly appointed manager Mauricio Pellegrino and his side have this week returned from their pre-season training camp in Austria where Claude Puel's predecessor had time to asses the needs of his new squad before moving into the market this summer.

And it seems the new boss will be following a well worked formula at St. Mary's if reports from Mail Online are to be believed.

The Mail claim that the Saints are interested in a season-long loan deal for Manchester City playmaker Patrick Roberts after he impressed during his time with Celtic over the past couple of seasons.

Since their return to the Premier League the southerners have done well in taking the shining lights from Celtic Park and bringing them into the top flight on a regular basis, with Fraser Forster, Virgil van Dijk and the now Tottenham midfielder all joining Southampton after starring for the Bhoys.

The links seem popular with the Saints fans on Twitter and, while some would rather see a permanent deal, the irony of the Celtic link is not being lost...
