Southampton's encounter with Newcastle United at St Mary's on Sunday was one of the highlights of the English Premier League action, with the two sides going toe-to-toe in a 2-2 draw.

A confident Newcastle side twice took the lead thanks to Isaac Hayden and Ayoze Perez, but a double from Manolo Gabbiadini, who started for the first time in over a month, ensured that the home side could at least take a point away from the encounter.

For Mauricio Pellegrino and his side, it's likely to be seen as two points lost rather than one gained, but having lost their two previous matches in the Premier League, it could have been worse.

Home supporters weren't happy with the result or the performance with a few individuals receiving more criticism than most. One of those was defender Virgil van Dijk, who didn't look his usual imperious self in the Saints defensive line.

Once a favourite at St Mary's, some fans are even calling for him to be moved on in January for a perceived lack of commitment.

Supporters took to Twitter to share their thoughts on his performance...
