The post-match discussion of the Republic of Ireland's World Cup qualifier against Wales has largely centred around Seamus Coleman's horrific leg break.

It has also been dominated by the reaction of his teammate Shane Long, who comforted him after Neil Taylor's tackle resulted in a potentially career-ending injury.

TV cameras showed the Southampton striker hugging Coleman as he lay on the ground, and now it has been revealed that Long used an interesting method to help Everton's right-back cope with the pain.

The 30-year-old's wife Kayleah told the Sunday Independent that Long used the same breathing techniques that he carried out when she was in labour.

It is uncertain how long it the recovery process will be for Coleman, who has started all but three Premier League games for Everton this season.

Long's decision to step in and help Coleman has received him plaudits from various football fanbases.

Plenty took to Twitter to give the striker a special mention.
