Spurs fans divided after Sissoko’s Burnley performance

The Deadline Day saga of summer 2016 was undoubtedly Moussa Sissoko’s move from Newcastle to Spurs. As is always the case as the clock closes in on the transfer cut-off point, there was drama, with the Frenchman supposedly U-turning on a potential switch to Everton as the bright lights of north London and the Champions League football on offer swayed him.

Opinion was divided at the time given his hot and (mostly) cold performances for the Magpies as they slipped to relegation, but his EURO 2016 displays showed that there was a real player there desperate to change the narrative surrounding his career. Alas, that has not been the case at White Hart Lane, with reports having already suggested that he wants out in a few months’ time.


Sissoko was, however, given a rare chance against Burnley on the weekend, coming on to replace the injured Harry Winks. The Lilywhites got the win they needed to take advantage of Chelsea’s loss at home to Crystal Palace, but despite the positivity, quite a few fans found time to respond to the above tweet from the player in a negative fashion…

However, not all fans were angered with Sissoko, some seeing enough from him at Turf Moor to suggest he could be of use to the club…
