Tottenham Hotspur’s woes at Wembley continued on Sunday after a late Burnley equaliser saw them drop points in a match they should have won.
Dele Alli opened the scoring for Spurs just after the half-time break and despite an under par performance, Mauricio Pochettino’s men looked on their way to all three points before new Burnley signing Chris Wood scored dramatically in stoppage time.
Spurs have won just twice in twelve matches at the rebuilt Wembley Stadium and fans are now anxious that they cannot replicate the kind of dynamic performances seen last season at White Hart Lane in their temporary home.
Wembley though is not at fault for poor defending and it was right-back Kieran Trippier who failed to cut out the through ball that led to Wood’s opportunity to bang in a debut goal.
The England international was singled out by supporters for a particularly poor display as they took to Twitter to share their thoughts on his position and potential signings in the final week of the transfer window…
Trippier display today was questionable. At fault for the goal and there was no intention to attack. Cannot wait till we get Aurier. #COYS

Another poor result and lack of pace. Davies and Trippier aren’t up to it, no width. Hope one of the new defenders can play left #COYS

No pace at all. Trippier inadequate.#COYS

Going into a season with Kieran Trippier as our only RB is just poor planning! He clearly isn't good enough to be a first choice #COYS
