According to reports in the Mail on Sunday, Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is considering making a move for Manchester United centre-back Chris Smalling this summer.
Having missed out on a deal for Hull City’s Harry Maguire, who joined Leicester City for guaranteed playing time last week, the Argentine boss is understood to have switched his attentions to the 27-year-old Red Devils defender who according to The Telegraph could be available for around £15m.
The England international has been told he can leave the club by manager Jose Mourinho following the £31m arrival of Victor Lindelof from Benfica, and he could be keen on a return to London – the city of his birth.
Tottenham supporters were quick to have their say on the rumour via social media, with the majority wanting the club to steer clear of signing the Three Lions defender as I don’t feel he is good enough.
Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
I considered it for all of 3 seconds. It's a no from me.

He's not even good enough to clean their boots. BUYING HIM WOULD BE DISASTROUS. Josė wouldn't sell him even if he was half decent.

We wouldn't downgrade like that
