Tottenham Hotspur qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League with two games to spare following a brilliant 3-1 win against the holders Real Madrid at Wembley on Wednesday night, and Spurs fans were full of praise for the performance of Kieran Trippier.

The 27-year-old started at right wing-back ahead of summer signing Serge Aurier, and he was outstanding at both ends of the pitch as a brace from Dele Alli and a goal from Christian Eriksen wrapped up a deserved win on a night that Mauricio Pochettino's men dominated the La Liga giants.

Trippier provided the assist for the opening goal when his first-time cross from Harry Winks' pass was turned home by Alli, and the former Burnley man impressed with his delivery from the right throughout the 90 minutes.

Tottenham supporters were quick to have their say on his showing via social media, and while one described it as his "best game in a Spurs shirt", another said "if you don't rate Trippier then I seriously pity you".
