Tottenham Hotspur recorded a famous 3-1 win against Champions League holders Real Madrid at Wembley on Wednesday night, and Spurs fans were quick to praise two-goal hero Dele Alli.

The 21-year-old was making his first appearance in the competition this season after sitting out the previous three matches through suspension, and he took just 27 minutes to give his team the lead when he finished from close range.

The England international added a second 11 minutes after half-time when his strike deflected off of Sergio Ramos and into the net, with Christian Eriksen wrapping up the three points nine minutes later.

Having struggled for form so far this term – and after missing a decent chance in the 1-0 loss against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday – this could be the catalyst for Alli to return to his very best.

Tottenham supporters were quick to have their say on his performance via social media, and while one described him as "the best player on the pitch", another said it was "the best individual performance I've seen in the flesh".

Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction...
