Tottenham Hotspur confirmed via their official club Twitter account on Monday that Harry Winks had received his first call up to the senior England squad, and Spurs fans were delighted with the news.

The 21-year-old midfielder has only recently returned to first team action following an ankle injury he suffered towards the end of last season, but Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate wasted little time in promoting him from the Under-21 sqaud following Fabian Delph’s withdrawal through injury.
Winks has started three of his club’s last four fixtures in all competitions with Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama currently on the sidelines because of injury, and he will hope to bring some impressive performances to the international stage.
Tottenham supporters were quick to have their say on the news via social media, and while some said that it had brought ‘tears to their eyes’, others were quick to give their manager some credit by saying “Poch has done it again”.
