Tottenham fans thank Arsenal as they reach Champions League group stages

Arsenal’s 2-0 win against Manchester United at the Emirates on Sunday, coupled with Liverpool’s goalless draw against Southampton at Anfield earlier in the day, ensured that Tottenham ended a disappointing weekend by securing their spot in the group stages of next season’s Champions League.

Spurs failed to take the opportunity to close the gap on Premier League leaders Chelsea to just one point when they were beaten 1-0 by West Ham United at the London Stadium on Friday night, but they would have been cheered up by proceedings on Sunday.

The results for the Gunners, Red Devils and Jurgen Klopp’s men mean the lowest they can finish now is third – where they ended up last term – while they will definitely finish second minimum if they take two points from their remaining three fixtures.

Tottenham supporters were quick to take to social media to thank their arch-rivals, and some even admitted they were happy to see Arsene Wenger’s side win for once with their local neighbours’ top-four hopes still in doubt.
