According to reports in the Daily Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur are set offer right-back Kieran Trippier a new five-year deal with the future of Kyle Walker still uncertain.

The Daily Telegraph says that Manchester City are interested in bringing the 27-year-old to the Etihad, but that negotiations have proven to be difficult with Spurs demanding £50m for the England international.

Trippier filled in for Walker on a number of occasions towards the end of last season – starting in the FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea and the final ever north London derby at White Hart Lane – and Mauricio Pochettino is obviously keen to tie the 26-year-old down to a new deal before considering selling his fellow right-back.

Tottenham supporters were quick to have their say on the news of the contract offer via social media, and while some thought it was deserved, others are worried Trippier isn’t the right long-term replacement for Walker if he does move to City this summer.
