Tottenham Hotspur agree to loan out Janssen to Fenerbahce, fans react

Vincent Janssen’s future at Tottenham Hotspur has looked bleak for some time due to his failure to land a regular starting spot.

The Dutchman was only bought by the North London outfit last year, but he managed just seven Premier League starts and scored two goals in 27 outings in the top flight.

It became clear that Mauricio Pochettino did not regard Janssen as a key player when the forward was left out of Spurs’ Champions League squad.

According to the London Evening Standard, Brighton failed to sign the 23-year-old on deadline day last week, while Lille rejected the chance to sign him.

Now, Turkish outfit Fenerbahce, who have ex-Tottenham forward Roberto Soldado at the club, have released a statement confirming that they have agreed to sign Janssen on loan.

“Our club, in principle, has agreed with the player himself and his club on the loaning of Dutch national team striker Vincent Janssen from Premier League team Tottenham Hotspur. The 23-year-old striker will arrive at Istanbul Ataturk Airport at 12:30 today [Friday, September 8] and negotiations will continue in Istanbul.”

After the news emerged, Tottenham fans took to Twitter to give their thoughts on the forward moving on, and there have been a variety of opinions.
