Tottenham Hotspur fans have rubbished the club's suggestion that matches against Crystal Palace can be deemed local derbies.

On the club's official Twitter page, a graphic detailing the fixtures against London rivals was posted following the announcement of the 2017-18 Premier League calendar.

The main derby is, of course, the North London clash against Arsenal, and the first will be played at the Emirates on November 18 and the reverse fixture at Wembley on February 10.

Within the tweet, games against Chelsea were added, while those against West Ham United were also included.

Some fans, though, were left scratching their heads when Crystal Palace was added to the list.

Yes, the Eagles are based in London, but according to some fans, they should not be considered local rivals to Tottenham.

Some supporters have even joked that Watford matches should be described as derby clashes, despite the Hornets playing in Hertfordshire.

Spurs will kick off their campaign on August 12 with a visit to St James' Park to take on newly-promoted club Newcastle United.
