Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has made some interesting remarks about transfer activity in the Premier League.

The businessman, who is known for his shrewd conduct in the market, is yet to agree a deal for the club this summer.

Tottenham's rivals Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool have all splashed the cash since the season came to an end.

City have parted with more than £200m already on new arrivals, but Levy thinks that the lavish spending is "unsustainable".

In an interview with football.london while in New York for the team's pre-season tour, Levy admitted that he is baffled by the figures being spent in the Premier League.

Levy also hinted at the club's own transfer approach, suggesting that manager Mauricio Pochettino is leaning towards developing youth rather than throwing big bucks at well-known names.

Spurs' current team managed to finish the season as runners-up to champions Chelsea, so major changes are not necessarily required.

Tottenham fans have given mixed responses to the chairman's interview.
