Tottenham Hotspur were reported to be one of the Premier League clubs interested in signing Fulham starlet Ryan Sessegnon.

The London Evening Standard claims that Liverpool were also in the running for his signature.

However, the 17-year-old has opted to stay at Fulham by signing his first professional contract at Craven Cottage.

The teenager hugely impressed in the Championship last season as he made a significant impact despite his lack of experience and young age.

Sessegnon featured 26 times in the second tier, and also had three outings in the FA Cup and played in one League Cup fixture.

In 30 appearances altogether, the left-back scored seven goals and produced two assists.

It is no surprise that top Premier League clubs were keeping an eye on Sessegnon, but rather than make the jump, the teen has decided to continue his development in the Championship.

Some Tottenham fans understand his decision, while others are disappointed that the club missed out.
