For some players, it takes time for them to be adored by the fans of their new club, but it seems that Serge Aurier is already a favourite among Tottenham Hotspur's following.

Of course, the tide can turn quickly in this fickle game, but after the 24-year-old's performance against Liverpool, he is highly regarded by the supporters.

The Ivory Coast international, who signed for Spurs from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer, was deployed at left-back against the Reds at Wembley on Sunday afternoon.

Aurier traditionally plays as a right-back, but manager Mauricio Pochettino gave him the task of keeping Mohamed Salah quiet.

On occasion, the Egyptian international managed to get past his man, as well as goalkeeper Hugo Lloris to find the back of the net.

However, over the course of 90 minutes, Aurier came out as the winner as he prevented Salah from causing any more damage.

In the end, Tottenham secured a 4-1 rout over Jurgen Klopp's men, which has put them five points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City.

Aurier took to Twitter after the match, and the supporters were quick to praise him.
