Concerns were raised when Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min left the pitch clutching his arm during an international clash on Tuesday.
The 24-year-old was representing South Korea in a World Cup qualifier against Qatar, but he failed to finish the match after landing awkwardly following an aerial challenge.
It was a disappointing night all round for Son, whose nation ended up losing 3-2 in Doha, and now it seems that his pre-season will be disrupted.
Tottenham have since confirmed on their official website that Son has fractured his right forearm and will undergo surgery today, which according to the Daily Mail could keep him on the sidelines for at least a month.
This could put Son’s pre-season in doubt, with Spurs due to begin preparations for the 2017-18 campaign on July 3, which will be followed by a 10-day tour of the United States.
Tottenham, who finished second last season, will face Newcastle United in their league opener on August 12.
Son was an important figure in Mauricio Pochettino’s side in the recent campaign, scoring 21 goals in all competitions.
Fans have been giving their reaction to the news of Son’s injury blow.
