Tottenham Hotspur made the perfect start to their 2017-18 Champions League group-stage campaign on Wednesday night - recording a 3-1 win at home to Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund.

Harry Kane grabbed the headlines with his second brace in as many matches, but Christian Eriksen was once again extremely impressive for the London club, who won at Wembley for the first time this season.

Indeed, the 25-year-old registered his third assist of the campaign in the second period - feeding Kane for the striker's second of the night in the English capital.

There is no question that Eriksen is one of the most popular Spurs players with the club's supporters, and the fanbase were quick to praise the Denmark international following his Twitter post relating to the Dortmund match on Thursday afternoon.

Eriksen, who is valued at £36m by transfermarkt.co.uk, has been linked with Barcelona and Real Madrid over the last 12 months, but Tottenham fans are desperate for the attacking midfielder to remain at the club for the foreseeable future.
