England boss Gareth Southgate revealed on Wednesday that Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane would captain the Three Lions against Slovenia on Thursday night.
Southgate is yet to decide who will skipper England at the 2018 World Cup, but Kane will be sporting the armband for the Group F clash at Wembley.
Chelsea captain Gary Cahill and Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson are also believed to be in the running for the honour, but it would be fair to say that Kane is the popular choice when it comes to the England supporters.
Tottenham’s official Twitter account posted a tribute to the 24-year-old after the news was revealed on Wednesday, and it will not come as a surprise to learn that the Spurs fanbase wanted to offer their congratulations.
Kane has scored 11 times in just nine appearances for Tottenham this season, whilst he now has 110 goals in 174 appearances in all competitions for his London club.
