When West Ham moved to the London Stadium, the fans were promised star-studded signings, gorgeous football, European fixtures and all the trimmings.

But if anything, David Gold and David Sullivan's decision to leave Upton Park behind and open a new chapter in the club's history has taken the Hammers backwards. They just about avoided a relegation dogfight last season and a top ten finish is already looking beyond them this term after a dismal start to the campaign.

After a shock 3-0 defeat at home to newly-promoted Brighton on Friday night, the east Londoners now find themselves in 17th place and will fall into the relegation zone if Leicester City beat Swansea this weekend.

While plenty have vented their frustrations at manager Slaven Bilic, a significant section of West Ham fans believe the problems stem further than that.
