Villa supporters cannot wait for Birmingham clash

Aston Villa will attempt to make it back-to-back Championship wins when they travel to bitter rivals Birmingham City on Sunday afternoon.

It is a match that needs no introduction. To put it simply, Villa and Birmingham just do not like each other, and both will be desperate for the bragging rights this weekend.

Villa currently sit in fifth position in the Championship table – seven points off the leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers after 13 games of the 2017-18 campaign.

Birmingham, meanwhile, are currently in 21st spot after only collecting 11 points from 13 games. The Blues will have home advantage, however, and will be looking to stop Villa’s surge up the table.

On Sunday, Villa defender Ahmed Elmohamady revealed that he was already looking forward to taking part in the derby match at St Andrew’s next weekend.

The Villa supporters were quick to respond to the 30-year-old’s tweet, and were keen to remind the Egypt international of the importance of the game to the supporters.
